Renault enters MRF Challenge

Buddh International Circuit came to life, every year, the month of October witnesses a slew of motorsport-related activity. This year has been no different, and now Renault India has announced its arrival on the Indian motorsport scene with the unveiling of its very own team for the oncoming MRF Challenge season.

To be represented by young drivers Jon Lancaster and Alice Powell, Team Renault was officially revealed to the public at an event in Delhi yesterday which was also attended by Formula One ace Mark Webber. The MRF Challenge commenced yesterday, and will eventually draw to a close on February 10 next year.

In addition to that, Renault also announced that it would be the official engine supplier for the '12-'13 MRF Challenge season. Which means all the other teams will benefit from the same 2-litre 210bhp four-pot RenaultSport motor.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Marc Nassif, Managing Director, Renault India Pvt. Ltd. said, "Renault’s 35-year association with Formula One racing has seen us design and produce some of the best powertrains that demonstrate our strong commitment to quality and innovation. Motor racing is in Renault’s DNA and with this championship, Renault India will, for the first time, support motor racing in India - both as an engine supplier for the championship as well as supporting two teams."
